Tank Venting & Odor Control
Kill the raw fuel smell and add rollover safety—without choking your tank’s ability to breathe. This collection brings together Vapor Trapper™ charcoal canisters, bulkhead rollover valves, AN adapters, PTFE hose, and mounting hardware to build a clean, leak-tight vent system for hot rods, classics, and high-output swaps.
Build your vent system (quick guide)
-
Choose your canister: Vapor Trapper™ in 4", 6", or 8". Universal series uses -6 ORB ports; High Performance uses -8AN end-caps.
-
Add a rollover valve: Bulkhead-style valve installs through the top of the tank. The body sits inside; two PTFE sealing washers sandwich the tank wall; the external side is a male AN fitting (-6 or -8). An internal check ball closes if the vehicle inverts.
-
Plumb with AN hose: Most builds use -6 AN from the sending-unit vent to the canister; High Performance vents use -8 AN. Convert any 1/4" or 5/16" hardline vent to AN with hardline-to-AN adapters. At the canister, use -6 ORB→AN (Universal) or mate directly to -8AN (High Performance).
-
Mount & finish: Secure the canister with 2-1/2" billet clamps or vibration-dampening clamps. Add charcoal refill kit for long-term serviceability.
Which size should I pick?
-
4" canister: tight spaces, powersports, minimalist installs.
-
6" canister: the go-to for most cars & trucks when space is moderate.
-
8" canister: maximum charcoal capacity when you’ve got room.
-
High Performance series: -8AN vent path for higher-output builds or when your vent system is already plumbed in -8 AN.

Fitment & best practices
-
Rollover valve install: Drill the specified hole on a flat area at the top of the tank. Install the valve so the body is inside the tank; PTFE sealing washers sandwich the tank wall; the external male AN fitting faces outward for your vent line.
-
Routing: Keep the vent line rising upward from the tank to the canister so liquid fuel cannot reach the charcoal media.
-
Sending-unit vents: Many use 1/4" or 5/16" hardline tube—convert to AN for a clean, serviceable system.
-
Hose size: AN6 is the most common; use AN8 for High Performance canisters or very high vent-flow needs.
-
Hose assembly tip: When cutting PTFE braided hose (nylon or stainless outer), wrap the cut area with tape before using proper shears to control fray and keep a square edge.
-
Compliance: These parts are for vent-to-atmosphere applications and are not a replacement for OEM emissions equipment. Check local regulations.
Pro result in minutes: Pick your canister, add the matching rollover valve (-6 or -8 AN), convert the sender vent to AN, run PTFE hose to a safe vent location, and secure the canister with 2-1/2" clamps. Done—no fuel stink, added safety, serviceable for the long haul.
Hot Rod AN PTFE hose construction: a PTFE inner liner with stainless-steel braid; choose a nylon-braided jacket for a stealth look or stainless outer braid for a classic performance appearance.
